Some of us are pulling our hare out waiting for spring to arrive here at Southern Energy Management. We’re hoppy to say the gloomy weather hasn’t taken the spring out of our step quite yet, and we’ve found an egg-cellent way to pass the time! You’ve probably heard about our B-Corp pledge and our dedication to supporting people and the planet. We partner with local organizations each month as part of our commitment to give back to our communities.
For the past 5 years, we have proudly supported Passage Home with different volunteer projects. Passage Home is a local non-profit organization whose mission it is to help break the cycle of poverty and end homelessness in Wake County. Every March, Passage Home holds their Easter cookout celebration at the Community Center for local families, as well as their clients and families. The Easter Egg Hunt is always a highlight activity – we help make that possible! Filling 400 colorful plastic eggs has become a tradition at SEM and every-bunny has fun taking part by donating goodies and stuffing the eggs with small toys and candies to make the “treasure hunt” even more fun!
Passage Home’s mission statement is to break the cycle of poverty for the communities we serve in Wake County. We do this by connecting families and neighborhoods to resources and opportunities. We prepare people to receive their blessings. By staying true to our values and focus, we continue to lead the charge on poverty in Wake County. Here’s our focus:
Families – the fundamental building blocks of society
Children – seeds that must grow to their full, God-given potential
Affordable Housing – a fundamental right, not a privilege
Faith – the root of our calling to support those in need
Access to Opportunities – essential for participation in society
Economics – the key to self-sufficiency
Partnerships – the strength in numbers that builds strong communities
