With over 2 million homes rated, join the industry standard of measuring energy efficiency

What do buyers really want in a home?

Energy efficiency. Studies show 91% of homebuyers want an energy-rated home. With this increased demand, understanding energy-efficient features and the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Index is essential. We can help!

Measuring Energy Efficiency

The RESNET HERS Index is the industry standard by which a home’s energy efficiency is measured. Developed by the Residential Energy Services Network, the HERS Score is a great way to communicate information to your buyers. By looking at the HERS score, buyers can anticipate their energy bills, calculate the true cost of their homeownership, and also anticipate the comfort of the home.

How to Get a HERS Score

To receive a HERS score, a certified, third-party assesses the energy efficiency of the home and assigns it a relative performance score. To assign this score, the HERS Certified Rater calculates an energy rating for the home. This rating is compared to a model ‘reference home’ that is the same size and shape as the home being rated. Therefore, the score is relative to the size, shape, and type of home. The lower the number,  the more energy efficient the home is.

Benefits of a HERS Score

Buyers will be able to look at this score both in person and through the RESNET National Rating Registryto help inform their decision making.

An added benefit of receiving a HERS score is that it is often required for other energy efficiency certifications. Let our experienced team help you get your HERS score today and communicate potential energy savings to your buyers!
